Be Here Now

The picture  above is the screensaver in my car. I glance at this picture many times every time I drive. When I stop at a red light, I have developed a habit of looking at this picture instead of checking Facebook on my phone. Many people have asked why I have this as the screensaver in my car. Maybe this will explain why…The other day when I was babysitting a little boy, he was sitting in the backseat of my car whispering: “Be. Here. Now. But I am here now, where else should I be?” I started laughing at his statement, but then I realized how honest and true it is. We tend to live in our pasts wishing, regretting, and shaming ourselves for the stuff we “should” have done differently. Or we tend to live in the future wondering, worrying, and hoping with expectation that things will work out like “we think” they should. Are we ever truly living in the present moment?

What would our lives look like if we were truly in the present moment when visiting with our friends. What would our lives look like if we were intentionalabout how we spent our time? There are apps that tell us how much time we spend on social media, but what would it be like if there was an actual app that monitored how much we drift away from the present moment on a daily basis? Would we live differently? Would we change?

Download the Headspace app and see how much can change when you spend just 10 minutes a day meditating.

Here is a link to a little video that explains more about it.
